The Stevedore Class Cargo Lighter is technically a small craft weighing only 35 tons. However, it is designed to move and carry the standard 200 ton shipping containers. The boat can be "folded" to the size of a shipping container to reduce its size for shipment and storage. This is helpful for large container ships stopping in small systems which do not have either spaceborne docking facilities or cargo lighters of their own. The container ships can carry these as ships boats or folded up as part of their cargo. The Stevedore has become a standard design, produced in large quantities.
