I might buy it if it has some good art, but I doubt I’d ever want to run it or play in it.
As a younger player of Traveller, I can say that the 2D6 system definitely provides a nice change to the 5e system that we have played for so long. The reason I got interested in Traveller was because it was different from D&D, and I predict that players will stay in T5e for a while, but eventually want a change and move to 2D6.
The price alone offset me – I bought Marc’s 5th ed version in the slip-sleve, and really can’t justify the several hundred $$$ price for this. I have several editions of the game, and another would gather dust.
Unless there would be something spectacular included with it, beyond metal-edged books, I’d consider it, but….
Mongoose does some nice books; I guess they’re the keeper of the flame, now, that Marc is growing older…
Im of two minds, because I went from 5e to SW5e (dm and I wanted sci fi, some players didnt feel like learning a new system) and then whenthat didn’t scratch the itch for me, I got into traveller, and eventually led the group there (a second group too!). So the pipeline led to at least $400 going into Mongoose’s pocket from just myself. Of course, traveller 5e may have just filled the role i was looking for, and I may have stayed there. So while it may lead people to ‘Traveller’ that may stop at 5e instead of going all the way to the promised land
