Intercept space combat is a combat system for spaceships. It is designed by Anders Backman. The rules uses vector movement, blind moves and you can use Traveller starships.
Yesterday, Anders demonstrated the game for me and Mike. Anders then helped us with the rules in a small game where Mike used a Free Trader and I used a Far Trader. It was a great game, and I would recommend these rules if you want to play small space battles in great detail.
You can read more about Intercept at the Vector movement blog. There you can also download the rule for free.
When I was 15 years old and spent 3 weeks in Lancashire, there was an arcade game that I liked at the local pub. (That pub didn’t care that I wasn’t 16.)
The game was a lot like Galaxian but had another twist. I the later stages the attackers could drop “spies” that could then attack you from behind. I thought the game was called Alien Spy. Maybe the words “Alien Spy” was printed on the arcade cabinet.
I only found this game one other time. At Tumba-tältet (that was an indoor golf driving range) in Stockholm. Since then I have not seen it.
Using my Google-fu powers with only that inaccurate name of the game as my only clue I finally found it. It is called Uniwar S. Using an emulator, I could also play it.
The first level is a lot like Galaxian except that all attackers look the same. If you know how to play Galaxian, the first level should be quite easy.
Each ship (called a Super Mosquito in the manual) is worth 20 points. I think you get the same when they are attacking (unlike Galaxian). Continue reading Uniwar S by Irem
For a game in the not too distant future or maybe for the 2300AD. The Baltic Loop is a vactrain that can travel at supersonic speeds.
The distance between the stations are only 2-3 minutes. The train runs in both directions. 4 trains runs in each direction. This means that a new train arrives at the station every 9 minutes.
The Island Games is held on Gotland, Åland and Saaremaa. The participants from many other island arrive by air in Helsinki or Stockholm. Now the PCs must help one confused team to go to the correct island using the Baltic loop.
The Baltic Loop is closed down one day to try to set a speed record (and beat the Californian HyperLoop). Agents from the Californian HyperLoop tries to sabotage the record attempt. The PCs must help with the record attempt and stop the Californian agents.
Courland has just become an independent nation. The Latvian flag has to be replaced on every sign at the loop. Latvian agents are trying to sabotage this. Polish agents turn the Courland flags upside down to make them look like the Polish flag. The PCs must stop the Latvian and Polish agents.
At 0:38, “I am just a Traveller”.
Beat Saber is the game that you get if you mix Guitar Hero with Star Wars. This is the best Jedi training that I have seen.
